50k Course Description
The 50K trail race course is the same as the 20 mile race course from the start to the Upper 528 Aid Station and the return from the Upper 528 Aid Station to the finish at McDanels boat launch. The description included here outlines the course from the Upper 528 Aid Station to the Jennings Aid Station and return to the Upper 528 Aid Station.
Upper 528 Aid Station to Jennings Aid Station
From the Upper 528 Aid Station, proceed north on the paved road for approximately 0.6 miles. Please be cautious and aware that cars will be travelling and parking on this roadway during the race. At the end of the roadway, turn right onto blue-blazed North Country/Glacier Ridge Trail. After a short section (approximately 0.1 miles) bear left to continue on blue-blazed North Country/Glacier Ridge Trail. Proceed on blue-blazed North Country/Glacier Ridge Trail for approximately 3.9 miles including three unmanned roadway crossings to the trail junction sign with Jennings Center (race course 15.3 miles).
At the trail entrance sign for the Jennings Center, turn right to continue on blue-blazed North Country/Glacier Ridge Trail. After approximately 0.1 miles proceed straight (right) onto Ridge Trail. Continue on the white-blazed Ridge Trail for approximately 0.4 miles until it re-joins blue-blazed North Country/Glacier Ridge Trail and continue straight (right).
Continue on blue-blazed North Country/Glacier Ridge Trail for approximately 0.15 miles and at the bottom of the hill turn left onto the large wooden bridge. At the end of the bridge turn left onto Old Elm Trail and follow that to the Jennings Aid Station (race course 16.1 miles). After leaving the Jennings Aid Station, follow the same path to return to the Upper 528 Aid Station (race course 21.5 miles).
Upper 528 Aid Station to Finish
The 20 mile race course description can be used for the return to the race finish at McDanels. Pass through the unmanned fluids-only aid station at Mt. Union Road (race course 26.8 miles). Follow blue-blazed North Country/Glacier Ridge Trail to the paved bike path and crushed limestone bike path then turn left onto the paved roadway at McDanels and proceed to the finish (race course 31.5 miles).
